Slow down and spend the day discovering the farms, flavors, and hidden gems that make our corner of Wisconsin so special. From berry fields and regenerative farms to hard cider, local art, and unforgettable meals, this itinerary offers a true taste of the Driftless Region.

Morning

Begin your day with our farm-to-table breakfast before heading out to explore.

Your first stop is Lakeview Organics, a beloved local farm where you'll find fresh-pressed sunflower oil, seasonal produce, homemade cookies, and simple treasures tucked inside the charming little red shed.

Continue on to Rush River Produce (seasonally) for blueberry picking and a chance to wander the fields with a basket in hand.

Midday

Next, visit Udder Hills Farm, where multiple generations of the Bauer family practice regenerative agriculture. Stock up on thoughtfully raised meats and learn how healthy soil, healthy animals, and healthy food are all connected.

On a warm summer day, consider a quick detour to the Rush River. Locals know several favorite spots to cool off in the crystal-clear water—a refreshing hidden gem after a morning of exploring.

Afternoon

Make your way to Maiden Rock Cidery & Orchard and settle in among the apple trees. Enjoy a flight of hard ciders or wine, stroll the orchard, meet the resident farm animals, and take in the beautiful views of the countryside.

Explore the Village

Back in Maiden Rock, grab a handcrafted coffee or tea and a sweet treat from Maiden Rock Mercantile before browsing the village's unique shops.

Step into Cultural Cloth, where beautiful textiles, handcrafted goods, and meaningful artisan pieces are sourced directly from women and makers around the world.

Take time to wander the local galleries and discover one-of-a-kind artwork inspired by the beauty of the Driftless Region.

Evening

As the day winds down, choose your perfect small-town dinner.

For elevated comfort food and locally inspired flavors, enjoy dinner at Venus & Ole's Farm to Tavern. Seasonal favorites might include chili-spiced Brussels sprouts, fresh salads, artisan burgers, and creative daily specials.

Prefer something more casual? Head to Six String Saloon for hand-tossed pizza, burgers, cold drinks, and friendly local conversation.

Return to the Inn

Head back to Journey Inn as the sun begins to set. Pour a glass of cider, wander the trails, relax by the bonfire, or simply sit quietly and watch the evening settle over the prairie.

Sometimes the best days are the ones that don't feel rushed at all.
