Tending Your Soil - Nourish What You Want to Grow

February 19.20.21

Nothing blooms all year.

Even in the deepest part of winter, beneath frozen ground and quiet landscapes, something is happening. Roots are resting. Energy is being conserved. The earth is preparing for what comes next.

Tending Your Soil is an invitation to do the same.

This February retreat is centered around nourishment—not just what we feed our bodies, but what we give our time, attention, and energy to. It’s a weekend to step away from the everyday, settle into the warmth of Journey Inn, and consider a simple question:

What in your life deserves tending right now?

Through yoga, restorative practices, Sound Healing, nourishing seasonal meals, spa experiences, time for reflection, and plenty of space to simply rest, we’ll explore the idea that growth doesn’t always require doing more. Sometimes it begins by caring more intentionally for what is already there.

One of our signature experiences for the weekend will be a Planting Ritual. With hands in the soil, each guest will be invited to reflect on something she would like to nurture in the season ahead—a relationship, a dream, creativity, health, joy, courage, rest, or perhaps simply herself. You’ll plant something of your own to take home, creating a living reminder that the things we value most often grow slowly, through small and consistent acts of care.

We’ll carry that same spirit of tending into our spa experience with a self-guided Facial Ritual featuring locally made organic skincare products. Slow down, care for your skin, breathe deeply, and enjoy the simple pleasure of allowing yourself to be pampered without rushing on to the next thing.

Gentle yoga will encourage connection with the body, while a deeply restorative Sound Bath offers an opportunity to become quiet and receive. Between experiences, there will be time for warm drinks, beautiful food, fireside conversations, winter walks, naps, reading, and whatever feels nourishing to you.

We’ll also welcome a guest nutritionist to explore nourishment from the inside out, sharing an approachable perspective on how the foods we choose can support our energy, well-being, and overall sense of balance. Rather than rules, restrictions, or another list of things we should be doing, this conversation will focus on simple, realistic ways to nourish ourselves well—and how small, intentional choices can become another way of tending our own soil.

There is nothing you need to bloom into over the course of a weekend.

No transformation required.

No perfect plan for spring.

Just the opportunity to notice what matters, give it a little care, and perhaps begin tending yourself with the same patience you so readily give to everything—and everyone—else.

Come nourish your roots, tend what matters, and make a little room for what you want to grow.
