Slow Living - The Practice of Enough

March 12.13.14

What if, for a few days, there were fewer places to be, fewer things to accomplish, and nothing you needed to prove?

Slow Living is an invitation to step away from the constant pull of more and experience the quiet luxury of enough.

Enough time. Enough rest. Enough nourishment. Enough space to hear yourself think.

At Journey Inn, we believe some of life's richest moments are often the simplest ones—a long breakfast with nowhere to rush off to, a quiet walk through the woods, a book you finally have time to open, a cup of tea enjoyed while it's still warm, or an afternoon spent in a robe simply because you can.

This retreat is designed around those moments.

Throughout our time together, gentle yoga will encourage you to reconnect with your body and move without expectation, while a restorative Sound Bath offers an opportunity to become still, quiet the mind, and simply receive.

We'll also gather for a Mindful Living Workshop, exploring what it might look like to bring a little more intention—and a little less hurry—into everyday life. Not by completely changing how you live or adding another list of things you should be doing, but by noticing where your time and attention are going and discovering small, realistic ways to create more space for what matters.

And then we'll practice it.

There will be intentionally unscheduled time throughout the retreat to spend however you choose. Curl up by the fire with a book. Journal somewhere quiet. Wander the trails. Take a nap. Pour another cup of tea. Slip into the sauna. Spend time caring for yourself in the Forest Spa. Have a long conversation—or enjoy the rare pleasure of solitude.

There is no prize for filling the time.

In fact, that's rather the point.

We'll gather around the table for nourishing meals, move our bodies, experience healing sound, laugh, connect, rest, and enjoy the natural rhythms of our surroundings. But we'll also leave room for the moments that can't—and shouldn't—be scheduled.

Slow Living isn't about doing nothing. It's about being present for what you're already doing.

You don't need to escape your life to live more slowly. Sometimes you simply need enough quiet to remember what you want your life to feel like.

Come spend a few days with us practicing the beauty of enough.
